When is a "weed" a weed?

We have heard that our farm is "weedy".

The next person that comes along says our farm is beautiful!

A weed is only in the eye of the beholder and since we grow organically we have beautiful "weeds" (some of which have medicinal properties and are good to eat) growing along with our beautiful veggies!

Life always finds a way, we like it that way!

Our New Country Store Is Now Open!

Our new country store is now open!

Hours of operation will be: Thursday through Sunday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We will be featuring all of our gourmet products such as salsa's, relish, jams, jellies and will also have the u-pick vegetable operation going on these same days.

Onion Planting Party March 23rd, 2013

It's onion planting time again at RichCrest Farms!
We will be holding our annual onion planting party on the 23rd of March 2013.
Please make plans on spending the day with us on our beautiful farm helping us plant our onion crop. Clean air, fresh water, great food, fun and a chance to get your hands dirty in the fertile soil await you!

Jim shelling dent corn (the old fashion way) on a winters Sunday.

We have been growing dent corn the past three years so that we can make our own corn meal. It is a lot of work from start to finish but with most of the corn in the USA being genetically modified now, growing and processing it yourself is well worth the effort.

Amaranth Harvest Party

Our Amaranth harvest party on Aug. 2nd was a huge success. Not only did we get alot of wild Amaranth harvested but we also got all of our veggies harvested in record time. We had a nice family of five join us from the Tucson,AZ. area as well as a few local folks that live near our farm. We were also blessed by recieving help from a group of African refugees coordinated by Iskashitaa Refugee Harvesting Network in Tucson,AZ. www.fruitmappers.org All together we had about 35 people helping out with 20 of those being the African group. After the work was done we all had a fantastic meal that was prepared by a professional chief (Kishor) that was part of the African group. Kishor and some helpers literally took over our kitchen and cooked up a storm preparing all sorts of delicious dishes. It was a real treat to have this great help in the kitchen for we generally do all the cooking for these events. Our sincere thanks go out to all who helped us with the harvest, it was a very special event. Please see pictures below.
