Arizona's New WWOOF-USA Ambasador

RichCrest Farms manager Jim Dumas was selected to act as an Ambassador for a great non-profit organization, World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) in the state of Arizona. He will be out this summer visiting with guest worker host farms to further the mission of WWOOF-USA. Congratulations Jim!

Beautiful Arizona Sunset

This is one of our recent Arizona sunsets. We have amazing sunrises and sunsets like this one on a regular basis and our full moons will blow you away!

Don't let our notorious hot summers diswade you from visiting during those months, with a little shade and a slight breeze it's actually pretty comfortable. The summer evenings usually cool down quite nicely as well.

Farm Guest Worker Field Trip

Our current guest workers Toni and Lexie from Minnesota hanging out with the local law enforcers of wild west town (To Tough To Die) Tombstone, AZ.

Good thing they are law abiden upstanding folks, otherwise they could have ended up in the jailhouse, lol!

We try to make an effort to take our guest workers on field trips during their stay with us. This particular trip includes a day long adventure through old "ghost towns" and the tourists destinations of Tombstone and Bisbee, AZ.

STRAWBERRIES!

The delicious organic Strawberries have arrived from our friends/growers in California. The season is short for this beautiful fruit so make plans on stopping by the farmers market to get yours while the supply lasts!
We will have them available at the following Tucson area markets: Plaza Palomino at Swan and Ft. Lowell (Sat. 9a.m. to 1p.m.). Jessie Owens Park on Sarnoff between Broadway and 22nd (Fri. 9a.m. to 1p.m.). Rillito Race Way on 1st street just off of River Rd. (Sun. 8a.m. to 12 noon).

5th Annual Garlic Festival July 26th and 27th 2014

It's Garlic Festival time again!

Our garlic crop did very well again this year and we are looking forward to celebrating the harvest with you at the 5th annual Garlic Festival again being held at the beautiful Triangle T Guest Ranch in Dragoon, AZ.

The event will be held on the 26th and 27th of July, 2014.

Amaranth Harvest Party

Our Amaranth harvest party on Aug. 2nd was a huge success. Not only did we get alot of wild Amaranth harvested but we also got all of our veggies harvested in record time. We had a nice family of five join us from the Tucson,AZ. area as well as a few local folks that live near our farm. We were also blessed by recieving help from a group of African refugees coordinated by Iskashitaa Refugee Harvesting Network in Tucson,AZ. www.fruitmappers.org All together we had about 35 people helping out with 20 of those being the African group. After the work was done we all had a fantastic meal that was prepared by a professional chief (Kishor) that was part of the African group. Kishor and some helpers literally took over our kitchen and cooked up a storm preparing all sorts of delicious dishes. It was a real treat to have this great help in the kitchen for we generally do all the cooking for these events. Our sincere thanks go out to all who helped us with the harvest, it was a very special event. Please see pictures below.
